Dave LA - Hollywood or bust. I don't believe I've ever flown into the O.C. without some sort of plane delay or malfunction.
I sat in the airport anxiously awaiting my trip. I was all set to meet up with my BFF Snackie and some other amazing bloggers at Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood.
I met Hil in baggage claim (yes, I brought a huge suitcase for an overnight trip) Girl's gotta have outfit options, full size hair care products and 5 pairs of shoes. I did actually wear 4 pairs...including my fabulous red/white flame bowling shoes.
We ran a quick shopping errand and then ended up at Bacon Heaven for lunch....otherwise known as Panera. We ordered sandwiches to go and headed back to Hotel Hilly.
Karl I totally get the stair thing now...holy shit, I had to lug my suitcase up 872 stairs. My room was on the 19th floor. :o)
Speaking of Hotel Hilly...my swanky guest room was filled with yum-luscious stuff. Comfy down pillows, Pureology products, a TV as big as my bed - fully loaded with Reality TV goodness and my own personal ironing board. The only thing missing was a slice of bacon on my pillow.
We had a little over an hour to get all dolled up for the evening. I volunteered to be the ironing beyotch. Hil wore a trendalicious black, satin, blouse and dark jeans. I ended up wearing jeans, a crossover tank and a light weight sweater.
We dashed out the door with a huge amount of mileage to cover in a short amount of time. I definitely got an E Ticket ride to Hollywood. I don't think I've ever seen anyone change lanes by crossing over a double, double yellow line with such finesse. My favorite part of the drive was Hil professing her hatred towards some "Fucktarded Asshat" who was doing the EXACT same thing we were. Oh wait...there was a tie for my favorite part...blocking all lanes of Hollywood Blvd. as we turned left on a red (Damn bus) on to Highland was pretty amusing. I loved Ms. America waving to the oncoming traffic getting ready to slam into the passenger side of the car...and the horns, what a warm welcome.
We hoofed it through the parking garage and made our grand entrance. Most everyone was already there. It was cool to put faces to people I've been reading for a long time. Some bloggers were new to me and I'm excited to catch up by reading archives. Dave2 has a list of bloggers on his blog - check it out.
I must say...Dave2 is a creative genius. He was armed with name badge lanyards and loads of buttons. I did pick up a Mac Whore button among many...funny, he didn't seem to have a "button whore" button...Amanda and I kept whispering...pass the Ziploc. BA meetings or employment at T.G.I. Friday's is in my near future. I got me some major Flare-age.
We played spin the bottle and then our food came. O.k...so we just chatted, but STB would have been fun.
We ordered everything from cheese sandwiches and pizzas to tuna lollipops..which btw, were very wrong. Hil of course went round 2 with her BCBGBDXYZ Makin' Bacon sandwich.
We ate, everyone but me... drank, and then we bowled. SJ's hub Bret was hating every minute of using the house shoes and ball. Apparently he was down a wrist brace as well. Excuses, excuses :o) SJ claimed that it was my shoes and sobriety that gave me the edge...mad skillz people...hah! I had a great time chatting about bowling leagues and stuff with Bret, we agreed, there will be a re-match in a real bowling alley.
10 lemon drops and Hil still managed to get a strike. I'm thinking if I had 10 lemon drops...the coma, hospital gurney, tubes and last rights might handicap my game a bit.
Nobody wanted the evening to end.
Dave2 had an early morning plane to catch and everyone was pretty trashed. Hil and I were on a pancake mission. We found our way back to the car and off we went. Mass amounts of laugher and OMG we're gonna die feelings were shared amongst all. Hill's tank of a car and navigation took some getting used to...especially when she tried to play DJ...completely removing my map visual. While it's all good and well that she needed to find Depeche Mode for Dave2, I needed the nav bitch to tell me what octopus on ramp tentacle I needed to take.
After passing planet Nissan, we managed to get ourselves to Dave2's hotel. We said our goodbyes and then off to iHop we went. Makin' Bacon round 3. Let's just say...Babe is no longer with us.
We arrived back at Hotel Hilly around 2 a.m. ish. I crashed hard and slept in a bit. We spent all day yesterday bumming it. We did manage to grab some healthy food. 3 reality shows, some E! TV and major down time later...it was time to head off to the airport.
I ended up sitting next to some local radio talent and we gabbed the whole way home. It was probably the most fun I've ever had on a flight. The plane took a small sideways dive before landing and my stomach ended up on the floor...but other than that, it was a pleasant surprise to see my husband waiting with open arms. I love airport pick ups.
I miss my BFF and my new friends already. Good times...for sure!
Oh, my sides...I will come back for a real comment when I stop laughing my ass off!

I actually DO have a "button whore" button, but I'm always afraid to put it in the bag just in case somebody sees it and thinks that's a bad thing... I bring all those buttons in the hopes that they will all be GONE by the end of the night! :-)

Oh my GOD!!! This was SOOO funny! I read it to Bret and we laughed till we were sick.
Seriously, DaveLA was the most fun we've had in ... maybe EVER. Can't wait for next time!
Oh, and Bret says he's ready when you are, baby!
